The primary objective of the Agri Business Consulting Group has always been to provide the most accurate measurement of loss in the most transparent manner, which is why the company has invested in trialling new weight based assessment methods.

The traditional approach to yield loss in cereals in Australia was to either count the grains missing or remaining, compared with an undamaged head.  Such a measure took no account of different grain sizes nor did it lend itself to appropriate scale.

For the last 10 years, ABCG has been trialling an assortment of grain threshers, from a portable 12V South African thresher and the German Mini Bat, through to a semi commercial electric model capable of threshing more than a tonne an hour.   The benefit of threshing is that it takes account of the actual weight and the testing itself is non-destructive.
